With MI Student Aid’s new scholarship database containing thousands of scholarships for Michigan students, MI Student Aid can now conduct a scholarship search for you.  MI Student Aid’s scholarship database, developed by AmeriCorps VISTA Michelle Danaj, contains scholarships with a Michigan place-based component.  That means the scholarships are set aside specifically for students from a particular region, county, city, or high school. 

Just call MI Student Aid at 1-888-447-2687 or fill out our new online scholarship search form. Our team uses this information to search a database of scholarships from every county in the state and compile for you a list of scholarship opportunities.

National Association of Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club of Michigan 2017 Scholarship (LOCAL)

The National Association of Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club (NABSMC) of Michigan is pleased to announce the Chapter’s 2017 scholarship program. Scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors to aid in their educational pursuits at a college or university of their choice. We invite you to apply!

To qualify for a scholarship, you must submit a completed application packet to include the following:

  1. A completed Application Form and Check-List.
  2.  A written response to all essay questions on application form.
  3. A copy of your high school transcript, which verifies a 2.5 grade point average or higher.
  4. A resume that highlights your extracurricular activities at school, in your community and/or church.
  5. Two (2) letters of reference (one (1) academic and one (1) may be non-academic).

Judith Borchardt Memorial Grant (LOCAL)

If you are a youth living in foster care who graduates from high school this year and plans to continue your education, we invite you to apply for the Judith Borchardt Memorial Grant. 

The grant will be for $1200.00 for the academic year.  You can apply if you plan to attend college, junior college, or any post-secondary training program.

Girls on the Run Limitless Potential Award (LOCAL)

Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum, which creatively integrates running.  They envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Award Value: $1,500

  • A high school student to graduate in June 2017 from a high school in Washtenaw, Jackson, Lenawee, Monroe or Livingston county.
  • A past participant of a Girls on the Run of Southeastern Michigan.

Tammy Sperle Memorial Scholarship (LOCAL)

Eligibility:

  • Students must attend a college or university in the following year.
  • Students must have at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
  • Athletes must have participated in at least one Lincoln sport per year for all four years.
  • Athlete shall have no infractions per Athletic Code.

ACF $5,000 Visionary Scholarship

All high school students are eligible to apply for our ACF $5,000 Visionary Scholarship program.  Multiple winners are selected each year, with awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 each.  The application process is quick and easy and financial need is NOT considered - all may apply!

Arab American and Chaldean Council Scholarship Program (LOCAL)

ACC’s Scholarship Awards Program is available once a year to graduating high school seniors.  Education is a fundamental part of a youth’s social and personal development. ACC’s Scholarship Award Program financially assists graduating high school students as they pursue their education. Scholarships are based on academic excellence and financial need. Applicants must be a high school senior, who has been accepted to college, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and has demonstrated extracurricular/ volunteer activities. Proceeds from ACC’s Annual Golf Outing provide funding for ACC’s Scholarship Program.

Orlo Wright Scholarship (LOCAL)

This scholarship (click here) is available to a 2017 Lincoln High School graduating senior.

The Committee assumes that if you are at the point of using the attached application, you are, or should be, aware of the following:

  • You must be a member of the current graduating class of Lincoln Consolidated High School, with a cumulative grade point average of C+ or higher. The only exception to this rule is if you are applying for a second year of the scholarship, in which you must have been a member of the class next preceding.
  • You will attach a copy of your transcript to this application
  • You may attach additional sheets if needed.
  • You must be planning to attend an institution of higher learning, whether university, college, or trade school, which is located in the United States of America.
  • You must agree that the decision of the Committee is final.
  • The recipient(s) of the scholarship will be announced at Honors Convocation.

Should your application prove successful, the following information will apply:

  • The face amount of the scholarship will be made available for your use through the appropriate institutional fiduciary agent (Bursar, Financial Aid Office, etc).
  • The grant money may be used for tuition, room and board, fees, books, or supplies.

Libbey Lowden One-room Schoolhouse Scholarship (LOCAL)

This scholarship (click here) is available to a 2017 Lincoln High School graduating senior.

Criteria:

  • Must be admitted to Eastern Michigan University.
  • Must be pursuing a degree in teaching.
  • Must have a minimum of a 2.5 high school g.p.a.
  • Must provide an essay about why you want to pursue teaching as a career.
  • Include community and school activities.
  • Provide two written recommendations from Faculty and/or community people.

Once the high school Counseling office has received the application and supporting material it will be forwarded to Daniel Makarewich, President, Lowden Schoolhouse Inc. for review by the Committee.

Pittman Scholarship 2017 (LOCAL)

To be eligible for the Pittman Scholarship, you must be entering Eastern Michigan University this coming Fall Semester after commencement.  Two $800 scholarships will be awarded to LHS students.

LINC Parent Senior Award 2017 (LOCAL)

Which teacher or staff member has had the most positive influence on you during your time at Lincoln High School?  In 400 words or less, please go into detail about this person and how he/she has influenced you.  This is a $150 award and is not exclusive to those seeking higher education.  This is for LHS seniors only.

The Hallie Richardson Scholarship (LOCAL)

Return this application with the following items to Mrs. Baker in the Counseling Office:  
1. Must attend a post-secondary college or trade school during Fall 2017.
2. A letter of recommendation from one teacher and one religious leader.
3. List any service which you have given to the community, such as church, scouts, or any other community/school group(s) you have belonged to.
4. A 400-word essay on The Importance of Community Service.

This scholarship is for Lincoln High School students only.

2017 Teamster Transportation Scholarship (LOCAL)

The Lincoln Consolidated Schools Teamster Transportation group is offering two $600 scholarships to LHS seniors who exhibit the following:

  • planning to attend a 2- or 4-year college, university or trade school;
  • has shown strong academic potential and/or continuous improvement; and
  • show financial need.

LHS Ileen Pickrem Memorial Scholarship (LOCAL)

Ileen Pickrem was a 1927 Lincoln High School graduate.  She served her country as a member of the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) in World War II and a registered electrolysist. She was a volunteer at the railroad museum.  She passed away at the age of 90 in 2009.  In her honor, LHS is offering a $1000.00 scholarship to Lincoln High School graduating seniors. 

The recipient of this scholarship will be determined primarily based on the quality and authenticity of their essay and how closely they can relate their experiences to that of Ileen Pickrem.  Other factors that will be considered are volunteer work/community service activities, need, and GPA.

The Jerry Kruger Athletic Scholarship (LOCAL)

This general application form will be used as part of an evaluation for the awarding of $1000 to be deposited in the student’s account at his or her selected college. It is intended to be used for books and supplies and is non-renewable. This application only pertains to the Jerry Kruger Athletic Scholarship Fund and not to any other scholarships offered by community, civic, private, or other groups and organizations.

National Buffalo Soldiers Association Scholarship

Instructions for candidates:

(1)   Complete the application.  Attach additional pages if required.

(2)   Prepare a letter of introduction, identifying yourself, your accomplishments to date, your family background, and the degree you are seeking, and your financial need.  Provide a brief summary on how you plan to use the scholarship funding if selected.

(3)   Provide at least one professional letter of recommendation prepared on official letterhead.

(4)   Write a 500 word essay (typewritten or handwritten in your own words).

(5)  Write a statement explaining your financial need and why your financial situation warrants that you need financial assistance for college. They should provide a phone number that will be used by the selection committee to follow-up on your financial need.

Washtenaw Community College Foundation Scholarship (LOCAL)

To apply for the scholarship, you must:

  • Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need
  • Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen
  • Have at least a 2.0 grade point average in classes relevant to your area of study. If you’re a new student, ask your instructor to forward your interim grades or submit your high school transcripts

You fill out the WCC Foundation Scholarship Application online. It requires a personal statement of 250 words or less. The statement should discuss your academic and career goals and any special circumstances that make you deserving of a scholarship. Before you fill out the application, you should write the statement and get it ready to cut and paste because you only have 30 minutes to complete the form.

A letter of recommendation is highly recommended and may be submitted to the WCC Foundation office, Room SC 306. It can also be dropped off at the Financial Aid office, Room SC 205 or emailed to Foundation@wccnet.edu.

The Blavin Scholars Program and Scholarship is designed to promote success for University of Michigan students who were formerly in foster care.

Michigan Education and Training Voucher (ETV)

The ETV program provides up to $5,000 per year to students to attend accredited Michigan colleges, universities or trade schools.  Students who have been in foster care on or after his/her 14th birthday due to abuse or neglect, have a high school diploma or GED, and were not adopted from foster care prior to his/her 16th birthday may be eligible.
